1-29-09

In east lansing today. Jessica is teaching so im cruising the internet, and making videos on iMovie. My newest  is called "Joe teaches Declan guitar" and can now be viewed on youtube. I took some of the footage i shot when we stayed at Joe's before the Tim and Eric show live. did i mention that was fucking unreal?

So i got tuned into a few new blogs thanks to lance. NYC Bike Snob is first up. SOOO fun to read. This guy has great things to say about bike culture of all sorts. At the end of his latest quiz, there is a real good quote from someone special...go take the quiz and see if you can figure it out.

Next, is Trouts and Trees. This is also very funny. Its all about TC and the people who live there. A gossip site, i guess. Check out the Josh Lentz story about him hitting 7-11 with a car (not his own). The picture is great, too. Being a fan of Microsoft Paint, i can tell whoever digitally edited that photo knew what they were doing. props.

OTHER GOOD THINGS:
-Star wars trilogy
-Kings of Leon (still)
-Thrashin REUNION SHOW feb 19th
-TIGER SHOWS! psyched to play again.
-Graphics design class is still fun, even though my iPod got jacked.
-Dropkick Murphy's live on St. Patty's day CD
-Propagandhi
-Tim and Eric
-The Office-new episodes are right on!

fuck the super bowl! have a nice day. --JH

STAY COLD

This is how im dressed right now @ 10:24am. its cold in here.

Our heat got shut off last night. were not sure if the pilot light went out, or there was confusion on getting the account turned over into our name when we moved in. Either way, i awoke at 8am and it 50 degrees in the house. First thing we did was get Scotts lizard hooked up with a heater and heating lamp. we didnt want it to die. THEN we called the  power company, and all that jazz. We think there is something wrong with the furnace and not the power/gas company. Repair man is on the way.

Going to Grand Rapids tonight for a show and to hang with friends. really excited about. check yuh later.

Malls

i went to the mall today with Scott. He was going to get his hair cut. its really long. no dice on it, so we did a lap, and besides running into an old friend and talking to him about doing giant downhill races on shortboards, it was the worst. Slum dudes and sloozes just walking around. Quite a few single moms, as well as dads, and then the couples that are just way to young to have children in the first place. Very disheartening.

Anyways, it was the low point of my day. Came back and listened to The Banner on the stereo system and felt better. Cooked lunch and watched some Entourage.

Afterwards, Declan, Scott and I took our neighbors dog (a boston terrier named Joey) for a walk at the State Hospital. Sooo much fun. we found a building under construction that had this thin layer of ice over the entire cement floor. We played on it for like an hour. The dog was the funniest though; he was sliding around uncontrollably.

Going to Kyle's tonight to watch the office and talk. adios.

A hoodie worth a thousand words

Maybe not a thousand words, but three important ones. My girlfriend, Jessica, got me this sweatshirt for christmas and it rules! the nicest feeling and fitting hood i own. I feel like this year, i really need to make things happen. In my studies, and in the music community, but i haven't thought through to much yet, so more on that later.

Living with Declan will be a real good experience i think. he's an enabler. He is always doing something and running around. Its the mentality i need to adopt this semester. In order to visit and keep up with Jessica, maintain my studies at school, booking and playing shows, there is no room for fucking around, except for when i'm hanging out doing one of the above activities. That's my idea of having a good time. I read lance's blog, and he talked today about how his idea of a good time is not drinking his nights away, and that he needs to find more creative ways to spend his free time. Although i am not vegan, i too am straight edge, and would take going to the book store, or dinner at serenity with 4 or 5 friends over hanging at a bar with like 30 friends ANY DAY. Ive learned the value of good conversation, because, lets face it, its hard to come by these days. Luckily, i have friends that provide hours and hours of interesting conversation that we can all connect on. I really dig it.

Well today i will be going to Sun Radius music to film Declan doing his traditional Japanese drumming. It will go into an ever growing series on Youtube under xjoshholtonx (my file). you can see him do things like jump off roofs, play board games, make star wars movies, and rap! So check it out. there are other movies on there too, but Declan seems to be a popular past time for many people to check out, so ill continue the series as long as he keeps doing weird and cool shit.

Thats it for now. Still watching Entourage, and reading the Living Biblically book.

SO this is the new year

New year. New blog postings. Im going to keep up on it this time.

Me, Declan and Scottie have moved into a new house and its already way fun. Also, ive been making short films of random stuff ive been filming and putting them on youtube. Check out xjoshholtonx in the search and watch'em.

Ive been back off the ship for nearly a month and half now. Strange. It feels like it never happened. I prefer it that way before going back to school. two summers ago, i sailed the great lakes from May 31 to August 8th, and had 2 weeks before school started. It was real hard for me to go from the ship, straight to sitting and listening to some boring guy talk about all this shit i just did. So, having a month off gave me a chance to calm down, get settled, and hang. Im ready to start again.

Upcoming Events:
